The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus is scheduled to meet President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe on Friday, in what is expected to be their last engagement with the President before the new Parliament is sworn in.
Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua confirmed the meeting, saying it would begin at 12pm and cover key budget priorities for the 2026/2027 financial year. These include security, health, education, and infrastructure development, with particular focus on wealth creation initiatives such as the Parish Development Model.
Obua noted that the issue of elections to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) is now being handled as a legal matter by the Party’s legal team. Meanwhile, some NRM legislators are pressing to discuss challenges linked to the ongoing economic crisis stemming from the Middle East conflict, as well as alleged incidents of violence during the 2026 general elections.
Details of the National Sovereign Bill 2026 remain under wraps, sparking curiosity among MPs. Analysts say the proposed budget priorities reflect the NRM’s 2026–2031 manifesto, which emphasizes infrastructure development, human capital investment, and economic growth.
